Editor's Note
The
Native Americans may possibly be the most misunderstood and mistreated race in
the world. They have been thrown out of their homes to make way for the white
man’s farms and mines. There religion snatched away from them never to be
given back. They have been hunted to the brink of extinction (now the biggest
tribe left consists of just 1,123 people) the last fluent speaker of their
language died in 1999,, after a one sided explanation of their being they
were ignorantly termed as the "savages"
What can be said about these people??
In
this web site,, I would like to invite you to share with me
Their
fascinating culture,, their rituals and dances. And I hope after going
through this whole site they won’t look like the “Savages” they were once
portrayed to be…….
The
American tribes had a diverse culture and a huge cultural heritage,, they
strongly believed in what can be defined as 'the inner circle brotherhood’,
we can learn a lot from them,
then
the question arises ...why did'nt they form a huge empire and deafet these
settlers...??
well,,their
were sevral theories put before this question some said that because of their
total dominationation by the settlers they did'nt get the time to form a
population others say..the lack of food because of the killing of their
buffaloes it was like "shutting down all the grocery stores for the
native americans"
well,,whatever the reason maybe i can only hope that this website can
force people to look for an answer......

Native Americans were peaceful people ,,fighting only when challenged by
other tribes they were forced to fight with the settlers to protect
themselves and there land…..

native Americans greatly stressed on the art or music and dance as it was a
big part of their rituals and ceremonies…..

native Americans had a vast and diverse culture differing geographically and
from tribe to tribe…..

The native mythology was somewhat
same in the belief that there was one god controlling all the lesser god with
one exception they also believed in the existence of spirits and thought that
all living and non-living objects have a voice if one card to listen hard
enough…..

Europeans played a big part in the destruction of their culture dating back
to Columbus’s time when he used to get his work done by using them as slaves
…..

The
contemporary world brought some relief to them but it still didn’t stop the massacre’s and breaking of previous peace and
land treaties…..

The
native’s had a huge language store house ,it so big that entire tribes were
named after a language group and then diversified on the language pattern
they choose to speak…..

were the brave warriors like sitting bull and crazy horse which protested against the settler oppression
…..

They
are the legends in the sand ,,the Navajo a
brilliant tribe mastering in the art of sand painting ,they are still know for their artwork…

Native
jewelry was what ditiguished the tribal members from the norms ,,they jewelry
dirrefeered from the warriors to the women…so,it was a important part of
their lives..

All the battles fought ,the massacres ,the triumphs and the defeats are
confined to this timeline ……
